Science Resources

Oregon Department of Education
This is the ODE home page. The resources and information here is extensive, but perhaps most interesting to parents will the link for the Oregon Standards Online Newspaper. If you at any time want to know why we are covering something, what we should be covering, or if you think we ought to cover something, this site is what you will want to check out first. Everything on this site will help you be well informed about the education of your student.

National Science Foundation
The NSF is an independent government agency responsible for the promotion of science and engineering through research projects and education programs.

Natural History Museum
Since most of us cannot travel to London just to visit a museum, I have brought the museum to us! This is the NHM's home page. There are links to sites just for kids, just for adults, and for just about everyone! A definite must though is the What Dinosaur Are You? quiz. I am a Struthiomimus; an average size, fast moving herbivore.

National Association of Biology Teachers
Through this website you can access downloadable books, an online journal, and so much else that will help keep you updated in the field of Biology/Life Science.

Explore Learning
For those who can not seem to get enough of genetics, this website is for you. It is an interactive exploration of just what happens when you cross organisms of different chromosomal traits.

DMOZ: Kids and Teens: Science
This site is more for the students than for the adults. If ever they have a curiosity about something, or need a question answered on their homework, send them to this site. It is overflowing with fascinating, informative articles written for younger minds.

Discovery Zone:Kids
While there is a lot in here to entertain and educate most students for hours, your first stop has to be the games link. Here you can create puzzles, pinball fields, and much more to test your problem solving abilities! This site is fun!!!

Brain Pop
An educational, interactive, animated site for kids who are interested in any subject. Though our class is science, I have included this site which features mini-movies in every content area. It covers the spectrum of concepts in a humorous and understandable way. We use this site a lot in class, so it is also good if your student wants to share with you the clip that we watched that day.

Rumor Has It that....
This site is just for fun. Ever wonder if those urban legends that you heard as a child are true?? This is the site that can answer all your burning, lingering childhood queries. Take an hour, check it out. You will be hooked!
